The elegance of the Great White Egret, portrait style, Loreto, Baja, Mexico
The elegance of the Great White Egret, a symbol of curiosity, determination and patience. This bird tested these qualities in myself as I inched my way towards eye to eye contact through my 300 mm lens. An hour spent in no time at all until I finally backed away with my fill of images. It was the last day of our vacation, beachside, in Loreto, Mexico. Rather than looking inward towards the marshes, It seemed that I had spent the days looking out to sea, trying to capture the pelicans in their downward flight and by luck, hoping for an Egret fishing in the shallow waters. Obsessing one way, I'd missed looking inward towards the marshes. I laughed. How like me to get stuck in a rut, but the hour spent this last day made up for my previous one-sidedness.
